Swine Flu Symptoms

Swine flu symptoms in humans appear to be very similar to those produced by standard, seasonal flu. These include fever, coughing, lethargy, fatigue, lack of appetite, sore throat, nausea, disorientation, body aches, stiffness of the joints, vomiting and diarrhea. In extreme cases, patients can experience loss of consciousness ending in death.  In most of the cases reported around the world so far, swine flu symptoms appear to be mild, but in Mexico lives have been lost.

Anyone with flu-like symptoms and whom might have been in contact with the swine virus, such as those living or visiting the areas that have been affected, such as Mexico, should seek medical advice. However, patients are being asked not to visit doctor’s surgeries, but instead stay at home and call their healthcare provider for advice, in order to minimise the risk of spreading the disease to others.
